Wojtek Mazolewski is one of the most busy and creative artists of the Polish music scene. Leader of proprietary projects (e.g. Paralaksa, Bassisters Orchestra, Pink Freud, WMQ) and collaborator of many stars (e.g. Mazolewski-Porter projects, Chaos Pełen Idei). Wojtek is also the host of the program "Jazz is cool" on the radio Three, which we can listen to on Friday nights.
Wojtek Mazolewski Quintet is the central project of Wojtek and one of the most important Polish jazz bands. Their fame reached far beyond the borders of our country. They are true ambassadors of Polish culture, awarded and applauded all over the world.
The world edition of the album "Polka" by Wojtek Mazolewski Quintet was recognized by Down Beat Magazine as one of the five best jazz albums in the world in 2018. This is the first such award granted to the Polish album in the entire history of this magazine. Let's add that Down Beat is the oldest and most prestigious jazz magazine in the world, it has been published since 1932.
The latest WMQ project is entitled "When Angels Fall" and is a new reading of the music of Krzysztof Komeda. Among enthusiastic reviews there are, among others: "Polka" opened the door for them. Thanks to this, the quintet recorded a unique album, stimulating imagination interpretations of well-known film themes: "Two people with a wardrobe", "I don't want to sleep", "Barrier", "Crazy Girl" and endearing lullabies from the movie "Rosemary's Baby". I wish it was a double disc album, I can't tear myself away from this music".
